Daily Lessons from Life 17 July 2018 - "Accident"?

Local boy Ben Davis made EPL Fulham senior squad on 2yrs contract at 17 yrs old. His appl8carion for long term NS deferment had been rejected. The FAS said it is fully behind his appeal.

My take: he will hv to give up Sgp citizenship as his appeal will not work as Mindef is right that it is not at national n international level like the 2 swimmers.
A bit unfortunate. Yet it is probably the right decision.
All the best to his personal ambition n aspiration to b an EPL professional!!

"E-scooter rider who landed woman in coma in accident given detention order, community service

SINGAPORE: A 19-year-old electric scooter rider who collided into a pedestrian, leaving her with brain injuries and in a coma, was given a short detention order and community service on Tuesday (Jul 17).
Nicholas Ting Nai Jie was riding his 14kg e-scooter, with his girlfriend as a pillion rider, on the footpath along Pasir Ris Drive 1 towards Pasir Ris Drive 12 on the morning of Sep 17, 2016.
She awoke from her coma the following month and was discharged, but still requires physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy and now has language impairment and poor working memory."
This is the type of situation one never want to be in, especially the victim n her family members. 14-day detention n community service of 100 hrs in 12 mths for her permanent disability!!
The young man is remorseful as mentioned. Yet, the serious repercussions of his reckless act left a lifetime mark on the victim n her family members. Is this fair?
Most likely not!
The laws hv been applied.
A sad situation.
Just hope the young man can truly grow old atoning for this terrible "reckless" act.
Blessed the victim n her family members.
