1. "Myanmar military says soldiers murdered 10 captured Rohingya
YANGON: Myanmar's military said on Wednesday its soldiers had murdered 10 captured Muslim "terrorists" during insurgent attacks at the beginning of September, after local Buddhist villagers had forced the captured men into a grave they had dug.
"Villagers and members of the security forces have confessed that they committed murder," the military said in a statement.
It was a rare admission of wrongdoing by the Myanmar military during its operations in the western state of Rakhine."
Indeed it is a significant development. That atrocity beyond those endorsed by UN, n hence majority of the human race, was committed on the Rohingya by some people.
With the admission, especially by the army of its soldiers mean they can begin to find out why did they do what they had done? how, n what can be done, to ensure such inhuman n cruel behavious toward fellow human being can be stopped n prevented!
Some said the Rohingya have been insistent on others giving in to their demands n never try to moderate n understand. This resulted in the so-called hardline actions by others.
Well, we don't know enough. May the righteous among the Myanmar Buddhist, Muslim m others band together to form a conflict resolution team to investigate, identify, and resolve this problem in a systemic manner.
Blessed Myanmar as it deserves to live in peace n harmony so that equitable prosperity can start n stay!!
2. "‘Winter is coming’: MPs debate perils of deliberate online falsehoods
Greater public education was brought up by several MPs as part of the solution, on top of possible legislative suggestions, to tackle the problem of deliberate online falsehoods."
I get lots of good intention msg throu WhatsApp, wechat, emails n other electronic means from friends n associates. I used to just accept it n even forward to other friends n spread the same materials. NOW I make sure I check n validate these sharing before I promulgate them as some r embarrassingly wrong! I was helping to spread misinformation. Of course none were malicious enough to cause trouble for me, my associates or anyone who had that misinformation thankfully.
However for some it may incite strong n violent aggression between people. e.g. racially n religiously charged allegations or atrocities or disrespect against one another can spiral out of control fairly quickly, easily far n wide!!
So, ability to discern if the news r fake or not is absolutely critical. Then to find n kill the sources of the malicious fake news quickly n bring the people responsible to justice as expeditiously as possible r key too.
May we b discerning readers or news. May the laws proposed not be abused. May Sgp b in peace so prosperity has a chance to stay!!
