Missed last night blog as I was having too much of a good time celebrating a friend's 50th birthday in Shanghai! So, catching up on 2 postings:

SINGAPORE: The People's Association (PA) will expand its offerings at community clubs in Singapore to cater to specific groups of people with various interests, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Office Chan Chun Sing on Sunday (Aug 27).
He was speaking on the sidelines of the groundbreaking of imPAct @ Hong Lim Green at Telok Ayer Hong Lim Green Community Club, which will be the second specialist community club by PA.
"In the past, the way the CCs have been built up are largely centred on geographical-based activities. So we have CCs in communities in all the precincts. But going forward, we know that for many Singaporeans they also participate in many different kind of activities that go beyond the geographical bounds," said Mr Chan, who is also PA Deputy Chairman.
"So PA is going to expand our plethora of offerings to the people and this is why we have embarked on a new journey to complement with the geographical-based CC, and that is to have specialist CCs that cater to specific groups of people.
"As we evolve, we will see new models coming along. Either a standalone specialist CC like this one in Hong Lim or it can be a combination of a specialist CC plus a conventional CC sharing facilities across the island as well," he added."
It is a BOLD initiative. At the same time, while I will consider myself a PMET, I am NOT sure I need to go to a PA CC for PMETs.
PA should be focusing its 'limited' resources to build more CCs for the ordinary residents in whatever precincts geographically, and especially in the new emerging mega-HDB towns where many young parents are starting their families.
UNLESS, of course, PA is thinking about providing a sanctuary for OUT-of-JOB PMETs who want to still have a sense of 'Imagined I am still working in the CBD area'.
Seriously, this is a BOLD experiment that I may rightly predict to miss the original intention of a CC. The 100-plus people survey might had been misdirected or good intention gone awry!
If we don't want division between races, languages and religions. I cannot see why we would want PA to be promoting a 'class divide'??
Maybe I don't know enough since the government and Ministers normally know better? OR do they on this particular matter besides "improving MRT reliability besides the 'under testing delays caused by the signalling system and hence don't count as a 'failure'"?
2. "Mayweather beats McGregor and one takes home USD200m and the other USD100m!"
If you want to slap the out-of-job PMETs in Sgp or anywhere else in the world, DO IT QUICKLY IF that can inspire them to taking up Boxing or UFC MMA!!
40-year old 'retired' boxer Mayweather came out of retirement to beat the UFC MMA Champion McGregor in 10 rounds of 'boxing' and supposedly earned USD200m while the loser gets USD100m. Not but for the loser!
How could they have pulled this off? Very simple. The pay-per-view is USD100/home viewer and this fight supposedly attracted 5m pay-per-view subscription, that is a cold USD500m in subscription; and is probably at the low side as some maybe higher priced commercial subscription like bars and entertainment outlets!
I am sure Mr May and Mr Mc risked their limbs and lives for these brutal combat as their sports can be very unforgiving and dangerous. Yet, I find it an insult to ordinary salarymen and women who may toil ALL their 65- or 75-year live in the office or the factory or wherever yet NOT made anywhere near USD1m, let alone USD100m or USD200m!!
Still, it is how the capitalistic world work! If you have the marketing and the market, you are solid GOLD!!
Anyone going to the PMET CC for a sparring match??!!
