1. S$12.2B assets declared in Sgp by Indonesians in Jakarta's tax amnesty!
Great move by President Jokowi as it has been an open secret that his people put a lot of money in Sgp just in case. I m sure there r many others fr China, Myanmar, Vietnam, etc. too.
If their governments become just as good as ours, what will happen to our advantages.
Tough road ahead!!
2. More jobseekers than jobs for the 1st time since 2016!!
Not a pretty figure. Yet the Minister of Manpower said on CNA news clip that there r 3m or 3.3m jobs waiting as businesses transformed n create new jobs. Hmm. Can't fault him for being an optimist though the earlier figure is real for those who lost their jobs n looking for one now.
The Minister w/o Portfolios n Labour chief said the transportation union is helping the 2 sacked workers involved in the recent deadly accident meant well. At the same time unions must not be able to protect errant workers. Lives were lost n if they were responsible, they hv to live with the consequences.
It is said knowing, if proven, that their "mistakes" caused loss of lives r enough punishment may be true. Yet, someone has to take the hit.
May they b able to get on with life as life must go on for the living.
Hold our breaths as we go into the untested territory!! What will happen when more r out of jobs!!
