Daily Lessons from Life 09 May 2016 - Deadly disaster averted and Crossed swords over litigation against government?

1. "SQ aborted take off in Seoul as a Korean Air plane strayed into its runway! - CNA 09 May 2016"

This is horrible! As a frequent traveller, I shuddered to think what could had happened if the planes did not take emergency measures to avert this definitely deadly crash!!

Hopefully the Korean Air pilots are investigated and punished accordingly as such negligence can be deadly! Hundreds of lives are at stake!

Probably a dent to Incheon's international ranking!

2. "Workers' Party, Law Ministry cross swords over rules on litigation against Govt - CNA 09 May 2016

While Workers' Party MPs said a change to the Government Proceedings Act would make it unnecessarily prohibitive for individuals to enter litigation against the Government, Senior Minister of State for Law Indranee Rajah reiterated that it is not the Government's intention to intimidate anyone."

Interesting point to debate about. I happened to watch the CNA news broadcast and the segment that showed SMOS Indranee Rajah's reply was delivered in a calm and measured tone, and without the normal 'what do you know' manner. So, I thought it was a good response though whether an 'unnecessarily prohibitive cost for individual to enter litigation against the Government' is intended as such will be interpreted differently by each concerned party!

Is this change a result of the recent case taken up by the NS man who lost his life due to the 'unusual allergic reactions' to excessive smokes from the smoke grenades released by the officers and safety officers? I HOPE NOT. At the same time, it is not unusual for some people to see it that way!

In reality, how many people in their sane mind will want to take up litigation against the government of Singapore? Given the odds, most would not.

Will the voters care about this potential 'intimidation' to stop them from taking legal action against the government? The answer is probably, or definitely, 'hey of course not lah! You think we are mad or what!' LOL.
