Daily Lessons from Life 16 February 2016 - No jobs will be safe from robots: Scientists

"No jobs will be safe from robots: Scientists - AFP, The Guardian 16 Feb 2016

WASHINGTON • Drivers, caddies, sex workers - scientists warn that no job category will be safe from takeover by robots as rapid developments in artificial intelligence (AI) threaten a new era of mass unemployment.

Intelligent machines will soon replace human workers in all sectors of the economy, senior computer scientists told the American Association for the Advancement of Science meeting in Washington.

"We are approaching a time when machines will be able to outperform humans at almost any task," said Professor Moshe Vardi, director of the Institute for Information Technology at Rice University in Texas."

LOL! The geeks don't get it! Do they?

1. If robots or AI machines take over the 'jobs' of human being, the human being just have to FIGURE out HOW to live with not much work! Even the sex-workers!! Yes?;

2. the human being will be challenged to think of a NEW social and economical WAY of LIFE unimaginable before! A world where human being live to contemplate what is life? what it meant to be alive? Even try to find out WHY human being need religions and IF religions CAN TRULY unite the WHOLE human race instead of dividing them as it is RIGHT NOW?;

3. where accumulation of wealth MAY be a thing of the past SINCE everyone would be a Sage having figured out when you don't have to work very much and had understood the meaning of life and what it meant to be alive! Everyone SHOULD be able to live fairly contentedly.

Am I dreaming or am I dreaming?

p/s: PM Lee talked about the 3 trends at the US-Asean Summit: a. the progressing Asean; b. the growing role of China; and c. the rise of India. None of them from the USA or Europe! So, USA simply just have to continue to be engaged with this part of the world. So, Singapore will be relevant as long as India and China are friendly with us.
