Daily Lessons from Life 16-17 April 2015 - Amos and Dead Woman ...

1. "Amos Yee to spend at least one night in remand; parents choose not to post bail - AsiaOne  Apr 17, 2015

SINGAPORE - Amos Yee will spend at least one night in remand after his parents decided not to post bail. According to The Straits Times, Yee's bail was changed from the $20,000 police bail to a court bail on Friday.

The 16-year-old is accused of posting an offensive video about the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew and making offensive remarks about Christianity.

During the pre-trial conference, the judge named certain conditions for the bail, Straits Times reported. This includes removing two Facebook posts and a blog post where he appealed to the public to donate to him. Yee had written on his blog on April 14, asking members of the public to donate to his legal fund. Under bail conditions, Yee would also have to turn off the public setting on the YouTube video in which he made comments about the death of the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew, as well as on a March 28 blog post with obscene images."

So this young kid is going to face the trial soon. It will be interesting to learn how he will be dealt with and if any expert psychologists will provide insights into his minds.

One interesting point raised in some of the public online forum about Amos's case is: IF someone decided to READ a link that was posted to him or her and found the materials offensive, does it constitute 'public harassment'? I am not sure though I am very sure that if the materials are unlawful or are untrue and twisted or are full of threats and hatreds, they are 'harassments'.

2. "Woman found dead in Woodlands had told colleague that female flatmate beat her - The New Paper Apr 17, 2015

She often went to work covered in bruises. In February, the waitress had an injury on her left ear that required stitches. Ms Annie Ee Yu Lian, 27, was found dead in a flat on the third storey of Block 878, Woodlands Avenue 9, on Monday morning.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said that its paramedics had found her body, with no visible fatal injuries, on a mattress in a bedroom. A married couple who lived with Ms Ee in the flat were arrested in connection with the case.

The police confirmed that it was murder yesterday evening. The man, 36, and his wife, 31, are understood to be the owners of the flat. Two neighbours, who declined to be named, told The New Paper yesterday that the couple moved in about five years ago. But they were not sure when Ms Ee started living there. They said that while Ms Ee was not related to the couple, the two women addressed each other as "sisters".

One of them said that she worked as a waitress in Hot Tomato restaurant at the nearby Causeway Point shopping mall. She said: "I think she was a tenant in the flat and the owners often kept to themselves. The few times I saw them, they seemed to be in a bad mood. "I had seen the waitress in the restaurant a few times when I walked past it. We never spoke, but she seemed fine.""

I am NOT SURE WHY this 27-year old woman would endure lots of beating until it went too far and caused her death. It is puzzling as it seems she was beaten quite frequently. YET, she, a 27-year old adult continued to be abused by these 2 alleged murderers!? WHY??

Another case where hopefully some expert psychiatrists can shed some lights into the minds of this murdered lady. and that of the 2 abusers/murderers if so proved after a fair and open trial!
