Daily Lessons from Life 02-03 April 2014 - Disaster strikes twice?

Was on the midnight flight from Shanghai to S'pore last night so did not manage to write the blog.

I am in another country tonight and just do a quick one after a long day:

Disaster strikes twice for Malaysia? A Chinese tourist, together with a hotel employee, were allegedly kidnapped from a resort in Sabah! This has to happen when the Chinese families members of the missing MH370 had a very tense and stressed relationship with the Malaysian authorities. This feeling of frustration and distrust actually were picked up by quite some Chinese netizens who were totally mercilessly in their attacks on the Malaysian government and even Malaysians at large!

Hopefully this one gets resolve faster and easier with the Chinese authority already started pressing the Malaysian side to work fast to secure the release of the Chinese tourist.

For some reasons, the Chinese has come to expect their government to come to their rescues ANYTHING they are in trouble while overseas. This probably came from the mass evacuation of Chinese from Lybia and Sudan when civil war started and many Chinese working and living there got ferried home in planes and/or vessels, including some military ones, to bring them home and out of harm's way. Those efforts were given lots of public play on TVs and radios and seems to have arouse great sense of pride and patriotism in the Chinese.

Of course, when the expectation is: anytime the government will come to the rescue quickly, efficiently and effectively may back-fired as NOT all situations can be recovered in such a manner though it must be the target to aim for.
