No news headline to comment on tonight but I want to reflect on one of my old favourite English soccer club - Liverpool.
I used to follow them quite closely in the heydays of Bob Paisley, Keevin Keegan, Kenny Dalglish, etc where they were the fittest team around and winning lots of trophies.
In this season, its performance has been woeful! Some of the players who were challenging for the EPL title are still there. What could have triggered this horrendous slide that does not seems to find a bottom YET?
It has to do with Loss of Confidence and Self-belief! The competence of the players, while none come close to that of the genius called Lionel Messi, could not have just vanished in a season! Competence once gained, cannot be easily forgotten!
It has just welcomed back Kenny Dalglish, its star player in one of the club's glorious recent history as well as winning manager of the club almost 19 years ago. He has the passion of a Liverpool fan for sure. His motivation is not lacking for sure.
He has presided over 2 defeats in as many games since taking over. He must remain confidence that he and the team can find the missing link. What caused the loss of self-confidence?
If that can be found, I am sure my old flame will find a new lease of life in the remaining season of EPL. It will be inconceivable that Liverpool is dropped out of EPL!!
May Dalglish prevails and salvage some pride from this once mighty club with a proud tradition. May the recent new owners allowed that to happen too and not be too quick to change manager again!
