Well stated at the start of its chairmanship of Asean! "Asean is NOT the proxy of the tussle between USA n China"!
The very pragmatic stand take by the Philippines on the disputed South China Sea (SCS) issue is something to take note n learn from. As long as no military invasion of the mainland happened, everything is negotiable n nothing like so- called "lost of face" should ever stop both, n all, sides to work together!!
ps: the Malaysian Minister of Defence painted a fairly dire situation of terrorists using religions to create unrest n instability in the Southern Thailand n the Philippines n in Indonesia r very real. With every country being vigilant n cooperating, Asean's fight against terrorism will be successful n effective.
