Just got back from the 2013 Probation Services Branch Volunteers Appreciation Dinner at the Four Seasons Hotel 1 hour ago. Fascinating as it is actually the Protection, Rehabilitation and Reformation (PRD) Service Division of hte Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) that hosted this reception.
Met a VPO who has rendered his services for the last 33-year old! Awesome!! Also witnessed a few performances by some of the clients and beneficiaries of the PRD Services Division. Good attempts and they received strong supportive applauds from the audience. Hopefully they are encouraged and continue with their journey on getting better at their performances and their life.
Definitely met some VERY PASSIONATE fellow volunteers. I have learned a lot just by listening to their rich experiences.
I got to learn a bit more from 2 of the volunteers on their world view as well as the going on in Singapore as they seemed quite piped into the complex world of politics and how grassroots 'welfare providing' agencies work.
Also learned about how the supposedly governmental agencies not being helpful and encouraging of local inventors and enterpreneurers with innovative good products!!
Some views fit in with my thoughts while some are quite different and open my eyes and minds to these new and different ideas. I have been enriched for sure.
It is an enjoyable evening of meeting long time friends, the staffs of PSB and fellow VPOs. Looking forward to next year event!!
