Daily Lessons from Life 04 March 2020 - Racism n Right by Marina Mahathir!

1. "London police release photos of men linked to Singaporean student attack after COVID-19 comments"

It looks like 1 of the 4 assaulters were even a white British subject, or 4 that matter is he even one as he looks non-white! Oops. That sounds a bit racist. Oh well. At least it is non-violent physically. It is also non-verbally abusive. Just a tad inappropriate to describe as such.

Anyway, the boy beaten up is a Sgp citizen n this just won't do.

I m glad that the Sgp embassy is in contact with the London police at the highest level to ensure that this assault will b thoroughly investigated n not been buried in the hundreds of assault cases in London, such being the state of the city!

Would hv been cooler if this Sgp chap subdued his assaulters n brought them to the police instead of getting bloodied.

Anyway, hope he recovers well n the criminals r brought to justice soon.

2. "Malaysian police quiz Mahathir's daughter over protest

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian police questioned ex-premier Mahathir Mohamad's daughter and 18 other activists on Wednesday (Mar 4) over several small, peaceful protests triggered by the elderly leader losing power and a corruption-tainted party's return.

The reformist Pakatan Harapan alliance, which took power in a historic victory two years ago, collapsed last week and 94-year-old prime minister Mahathir resigned.

He then sought to return as premier but unexpectedly lost out to Muhyiddin Yassin, who is backed by the scandal-mired United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), which had been ousted in 2018.

Several peaceful protests, with crowds of no more than a few hundred people, took place in Kuala Lumpur following the weekend decision to appoint Muhyiddin prime minister.

But under Malaysian law, it is illegal to hold a protest without first getting police permission, and on Wednesday, a group of activists who took part were called in for questioning.

"This reminds us of more than two years ago, when so many of us had to undergo this," the 62-year-old, who is a leading women's campaigner activist, told AFP.

"The new government has only been in two days and all this is happening."

Activist Fadiah Nadwa Fikri, who was questioned for taking part in two protests, added: "We experienced this before and now we're seeing the same thing unfolding."

The long-ruling UMNO-led regime ejected from power in 2018 was frequently accused of using heavy-handed tactics to curb free speech and the right to protest."

Key telling point: "The gov has only been in power for 2 days n is already trying to suppress the people fr expressing themselves through public demo!!

More twists n turns 2 come?

Will Marina go on n organise much biggest protest to register unequivocally that: If the Voters cannot change their votes AFTER GE r out, HOW CAN the elected MPs change side?

Blessed Msia n Msian!
