China's Huawei has launched an unprecedented public relations blitz, thrusting its low-key founder in front of international media as the telecoms firm seeks to ease concern among Western nations bent on shutting it out of their markets.

The move, along with significant personnel change in its 300-strong corporate affairs department, comes as the world's largest telecommunications equipment maker battles fear of Chinese authorities accessing its infrastructure for espionage.
In a 25-minute interview aired late on Sunday - his first with state-controlled China Central Television (CCTV) - Huawei Technologies Co Ltd Chief Executive Ren Zhengfei shrugged off the global push against his company, which has repeatedly denied any state links.
"If you do (your product) well, there is no need to worry about sales... It would be stupid on their part if they don't buy," the 74-year-old said in a one-on-one, adding to three group interviews last week with English, Chinese and Japanese media outlets.
"It would be their loss," Ren said, referring to the United States and other Western countries which have restricted Huawei in their markets.
Before last week, Ren had had no more than 10 interviews across media since founding Huawei in 1987, CCTV said. He last met international media at Davos in 2015."
I watched the interview clip by CCTV with Mr Ren. It gives a lot more information abt him n how Huawei is responding to this unprecedented conspiracy by a few western governments against a commercial company!! Even more draconian than the treatment given out to 1 of the top Russian cyber security firms!!
Anyway, my takeaways r:
1. he is passionate abt basic science education n research;
2. he believes why can't China attracts the many talented scientists fr Eastern Europe!;
3. he is proud of the breakthrough of Huawei in using microwave n 5G together. Significant to note Huawei's 5G technology is based on a Turk inventor's theories!;
4. he is confident that: "the products, services n solutions" will sell itself eventually. A bit dangerous though he is right thereis a big mkt outside the USA, UK, Canada n ANZ!!;
5. he obviously is clear that when the kids grown, they hv their own lives to live!
The missing question is perhaps: is Huawei linked to the Chinese government n does it really just a front of the "evil" Chinese empire (vs. Ruusian styled companies controlled by Putin)?
May Huawei comes out of this storm stronger n more sunderstood by the Doubters!!
