"Singapore extends port limits off Tuas, won't hesitate to take action against Malaysia intrusions: Khaw"
And
"Mgt of Johore southern airspace"!!
Not sure what triggered this latest spates of disturbing behaviours by msia government on the 2 issues above.
My understanding of the 2 issues r:
1. sea limit - Msian had drawn a line which Sgp didn't agree n protested per international laws. Nothing happened since for 20 yrs n now it becomes an issue.
In fact, the Msian side had extended its port limit of Pasi Gudang beyond that line drawn 20 yrs ago!!
14 unauthorised intrusions had happened n Sgp had protested formally 3 times.
At tonight's press conference, Minister Khaw has given the facts n stated it is best the Msian vessels leave Sgp water b4 firmer actions r taken by the Sgp enforcement agencies.
As for the Johore southern airspace, there was an agmt for Sgp to MANAGE the airspace there while the ownership of the same airspace belongs to Msia. This was done in consultation with all regional stakeholders (Msia, Sgp n other interested parties) n ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation).
If this is to change, it cannot b a unilateral decision by the Msian authority as flight safety is involved n proper consultation between all stakeholders should take place.
SO, on rational grounds, the sea limit violation must stop.
On the Johore southern airspace issue, consultations must take place on mgt of airspace as the topic n nothing abt violation of Msia airspace! Make it crystal clear the issue at hands!!
Having said all the rational points of view.
Let's appeal to the senses n emotions:
1. is this Dr M's thingy or the intentional of the whole Msia cabinet members? Surely his young n young colleagues would not want to see such a strained neighbour who is almost joint at the hip sharing many common histories, kinship, friends, trades n etc. living by its side! Is this the desired state for the children n grandchildren of Sgp/Msia or Msia/Sgp?;
2. can the long standing relatively cordial relationship b dictated, n possibly b destroyed by just 1 man in a democracy?;
3. do the people of Msia want this undesirable outcone?;
4. what would the international n Asean communities say abt this series of unprovoked violations of our sea limits?
For now, let good sense prevail as it would b very very ugly if we hv to blow up the Msian vessels in our water like what Indonesia had done to fishing vessels that infringed their sea limits!!
Stabilty is key b4 prosperity can develop.
Let's talk based on international laws n the mutually agreed bilateral or multilateral agreements.
Peace to Msia/Sgp n Sgp/Msia!!
