"Shanmugam says States Times Review article has 'absurd allegations', questions how Malaysian media picked up story
SINGAPORE: The allegations in a States Times Review article linking Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and investigations into Malaysian state fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) are "absurd" and yet, they were picked up by mainstream media in Malaysia, Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam said on Friday (Nov 9).
He was commenting on the article, titled "Lee Hsien Loong becomes 1MDB’s key investigation target", which alleged that Malaysia had signed several unfair agreements with Singapore in exchange for Singapore banks’ assistance in laundering the funds of 1MDB."

"SINGAPORE: Alternative news site States Times Review has refused to take down an article linking Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) corruption scandal.
"States Times Review will refuse to remove the alleged offending article," it said in a Facebook post at about 6pm on Friday (Nov 9)."
When I 1st read this link fr a friend, I was shocked n believe that Sgp gov MUST sue this publisher for libel n defamation. The allegations r absurb indeed. Just as 1MDB 1st broke! Nobody believes it!!
Let's see how things develop as in a public trial, we will get to know how ridiculous these allegations can be m the culprits will b given due justice.
Sgp international financial centre reputation was tarnished somewhat with the many money laundering acts by some banks, including DBS, when they admitted to "tardy" careless behaviours when investigated by Sgp law enforcement authorities.
They had been dealt with n nothing like what The States Times Review had alleged!
