Daily Lessons from Life 17 November 2018 - Cocaine $$ n Instant Zero to Hero n Zero?!

1. "US Coast Guard seizes US$500 million worth of cocaine

REUTERS: U.S. authorities seized about 18.5 tons of cocaine with a street value of US$500 million(389.50 million pounds) in the eastern Pacific Ocean, the U.S. Coast Guard said on Friday.

The cocaine was taken off the Coast Guard cutter James in the Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday after it was confiscated from 15 drug smuggling vessels in the international waters, the Coast Guard said."

Simply amazing the amount of money involved in this trade!! US$500m!!

How many drug users it will feed n the consequential destruction of life, relationships n families it can sought??

Yet, as long there is demand, n the penalties r worth the risk of being caught, the supplies will b there!

Maybe fixing the demand is much harder n less of a news worthy n sensational that led authorities to focus on catching the suppliers?

2. "Homeless man who helped thwart Australia attack charged with burglary, theft

MELBOURNE: A homeless man who used his shopping trolley to help thwart an attack by a knife-wielding Islamic State sympathiser in Australia this month has been charged with five offences, including burglary and theft.

Michael Rogers repeatedly tried to ram the attacker, Hassan Khalif Shire Ali, who was lunging at police and had stabbed three people, one fatally, in an attack in the city of Melbourne that police branded terrorism.

Police shot Shire Ali who later died.

On Saturday, police said Rogers, 46, nicknamed "Trolley Man" on social media, had been charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of theft and committing an indictable offence while on bail.

"He has been remanded in custody to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court (on Saturday)," police said in an emailed statement.

Rogers was called for questioning late on Friday."

A great story of zero-to-hero-to-zero in the internet social media age?

Maybe though I see a different insights.

Mr Rogers is possibly a decent man who just hv to help where something bad happened. It is sheer bravery, assuming he is no kung fu martial artist, of him to confront a killer with a knife using the shopping trolley!

Would be interesting to find out who Mr Roger was before he become homeless n committed those burglaries n thefts!

Is his a zero-to-hero-to-zero story?

Maybe not. Maybe his is a decent man-to-zero-to-hero-to-decent man story if he is helped here!!

Blessed him n all the best to him.
