The parliamentary session today revealed a lot of work r ahead for Sgp gov to sort out with the newly elected Msia gov on a number of things.
Chief among them is the Water Agreement upon which separation was achieved. Without water, Sgp will b in dire straits!
Sgp is aware of this strategic weakness n had made water independent a key initiative. Hence our national tap project.
If push come to shaft, hope it will mever happen, relying on international laws is all we can call on.
Msia is not so big n powerful that it can behaves like the Russian or American or Chinese. So, hopefully this issue can be resolved amicably.
As for the fate of the HSR, the Msia gov will need to respond to Sgp diplomatic note on what's next as Sgp had incurred Sgd240m n many more millions per month! The longer it drags on, the more it would cost both sides; n in a worst case scenarios, Msia gov hv to pay penalties per the legal contract obligations. That would not be good neighbours should end up in.
How Sgp gov handles these bilateral issues will b a great test for the 4G leaders.
If they failed, maybe PM Lee has a reason to stay on longer?
