Daily Lessons from Life 02-04 July 2018 - Catching up ...

By the way, today is 4th of July the Independent Day of USA! The world's only Superpower! With the POTUS making enemies of long time friends over trades! May it survive this uniquely different type of POTUS the nation has even seen!

Being preoccupied with watching the World Cup round of 16 matches on my tiny mobile phone screen over the last few nights/mornings! Indeed, when one indulges in a specific hobby, it can make one become unproductive in a meaningful way!

1. World Cup 2018 - Completion of Round of 16

I must say despite my misgiving about the unproductive indulgence of this Beautiful Game 2018, it has been one of the most entertaining and unpredictably World Cup thus far! Some pre-tournament favourites crashed out, not most spectacularly as the 2014 World Cup winners Germany! Followed up Argentina and Portugal thereby depriving the parade of skills of Messi and C. Ronaldo though admittedly CR7 had done much better than Messi!

May the rest of the tournament continue to entertain and enthralled!

p/s: Special mention must go to the Japanese team and their world class well behaved fans! To tidy up the dressing room and the stadium AFTER a bitterly cruel last minute goal from Belgium to send them home at 2:3 simply has to be acknowledged and saluted. Maybe ONE DAY, more or most Singaporeans will learn to tidy after themselves at hawkers centres and foods courts!

2. Najib, x-PM of Msia, formally charged!

Finally it had happened. The beautiful democracy of Msia allowed Najib to continue to write and post about his innocence until proven guilty on FB and Twitters, etc. He definitely believes that the corruption charges levied at him were politically motivated and were completely without merits as he had committed NO CRIME whatsoever against the state and the people!

Like I have mentioned in the last few weeks since the unexpected and monumental PH victory at the GE2018, many puzzling and hard-to-reconcile past cases involving corruption, 'ordered' killing of witnesses, etc. need to be looked into IF one is to teach the young and younger generation of human beings that 'The Good will always triumph over the Evils', just a matter of when and NOT if it will, these cases must ensure that: justice will be served!

3. The gripping saga of 12 Thai teen footballers and their young assistant coached trapped for 10 days in a cave in ChiangMai found alive!

This one was on the news for a while and then a burst of good news that the divers, from the Thai navy as well as around the world, found the group alive and safe in an elevated 'beach' called 'Pattaya Beach' from the many flooded cave passages! A miracle as proclaimed by many!

The challenge now is how to keep them well and bring them to the surface again while waiting for the flooded passages to drop as many of the boys cannot swim, not to mention dive!

4. "Caution needed amid 'euphoria' in Singapore property market: MAS"

Good to read that MAS is concerned. It is puzzling for me too that the market seems to have just shrugged off the 'uncertainty of leasehold HDB flat past 40 years' making it a depreciating 'asset' with upgraders flooding the market! This coupled with the dark cloud hanging over the world economy due to the impending trade war between the USA and China!!

Maybe Singapore's economy is totally independent of the world economy despite that fact that we are an export-oriented small domestic economy!! Not forgetting the prediction of interest rates going up all over the world too!

Let's see if MAS will announce NEW measures to discourage the 'euphoria' in Singapore property market to keep it affordable to young married S'pore couple who want to have a root over their heads at a reasonable price!

Roll on July! Roll on!!
