Daily Lessons from Life 27 May 2018 - Does he need this distraction?

"Tens of thousands sign petition seeking Nobel Peace Prize for Mahathir

INGAPORE: Tens of thousands of people have signed an online petition seeking a Nobel Peace Prize nomination for Malaysia's Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad.
Started by change.org user Alexandria Abishegam just one day ago, the online petition had more than 51,000 signatures as of around 9pm on Sunday evening (May 27).
Mahathir should be nominated "in recognition of his determination" to return to politics, said Abishegam in her petition.
"Tun Dr Mahathir focused on the importance of transparency, democracy and rule of law for Malaysia," she wrote. "The fact that Tun Dr Mahathir has also openly admitted his own faults and apologised for his mistakes of the past makes him truly a 'Giant of a Man' and a leader to emulate."
Going on to describe him as "the 'Nelson Mandela' of Malaysia", the petition praised the prime minister for "helming a peaceful transfer of power".
Malaysia's historic general election on May 9 saw the 92-year-old leading the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition to victory, bringing to an end the decades-long rule of Barisan Nasional."
Er. Hmm. No lah. Is he interested? Why Nobel Peace Prize? He has 2 yrs to show his sincerity to guide Msia away from the totally unacceptable "wiping the truth fr the earth corrupt n shameless" governance before passing to Anwar, the de facto leader of PH. So, he can do without this distraction.
Also he has to win over the healthy sceptic that said he was guilty of using excessive control n power in his 1st reign as PM of Msia to sue n lock up his political opponents like Anwar, etc. Not forgetting his dispensing of favour for his sons n cronies with businesses.
So, seize the opportunity to truly leave behind a legendary legacy Dr M. Prove to the idealists that ideals can be realised. 92 going to 93 n then 94. Still work for the money? Hope not. Peace to Msia n Msians!
