Daily Lessons from Life 21 April 2018 - Cabinet reshuffle

"Cabinet reshuffle to involve almost all ministries; will be announced next week: PM Lee

LONDON: The upcoming Cabinet reshuffle will involve almost all the Government ministries, but not all ministers will move, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said on Friday (Apr 20).
Speaking to Singapore media at the close of the Commonwealth Heads of Government (CHOGM) Meeting in London, Mr Lee also confirmed that the reshuffle will be announced next week.
Some of the key ministers will have their portfolios adjusted, Mr Lee said, although they will "basically stay in places where they still need time to continue to develop initiatives which they have started”.
Mr Lee had earlier said that a Cabinet reshuffle would be set to take place after Parliament takes a mid-term break. The reshuffle, he said, is to give younger ministers more exposure and responsibility.
Parliament’s mid-term break, which is known as a prorogue, started on Apr 3. It will reconvene on May 7.
Mr Lee had also said that he had asked the younger, fourth-generation ministers, known as the 4G leadership, to draft the Government’s agenda for the President’s Address, which will be delivered by President Halimah Yacob when Parliament reconvenes."
A watershed reshuffle of the cabinet signalling the coming changing of guards in the next 2-3 years (?).
Everyone will b keen to know who get promoted n what does it mean for each cabinet members.
There will b unproductive talk abt who "won" n who "lost" as an effective cabinet cannot be abt winners n losers since they need each other to pull together to get things done for the people.
Sure there need to be a leader to represent them. This leader needs not b an unanimous choice. If it is just a very tiny majority, we will hv a problem! Hopefully it will b a majority choice.
Regardless, the content of the draft Presidential Address when Parliament reconvene to chart the vision n missions of the nation will b scrutinised closely by all. A different n better vision will be great. If it is the same old, maybe the 4th generation leaders will hv to wait for 1 or 2 more GE cycles!!
I await with great interest the next cabinet to be announced next week!!
