"US stance towards Asia will determine not just prosperity, but war and peace: PM Lee

WASHINGTON: There is great scope for US businesses to grow new markets, make fresh investments and create prosperity on both sides of the Pacific but key to this, is the US attitude, said Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Monday (Oct 23) during his official working visit in Washington DC.

China is the largest trading partner of most Asian countries and Mr Lee said they welcome China’s initiatives to develop win-win partnerships with its neighbours through the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and Belt & Road Initiative.

Mr Lee said these schemes help Asian countries meet their urgent need for financing and better infrastructure and connectivity and they are also a constructive, stabilising way to accommodate China’s growing influence into the international system."

Honestly the business people in the USA who has international businesses know that they must hv a foot in the world biggest market to be a global company. The Chinese know that too n r playing hard to get. It is in a stage where Chinese companies r expanding internationally buying up foreign companies at a scale that alarm the Chinese government n the host countries too!

So the business lobby will make sure that Trump doesn't screw up the access to China. Though it will hv it's misses given the unpredictable behaviours of Trump the man if not Trump the President!!

If Trump is thinking of slowing China down, the easiest way is to encourage Abe to change Japan's pacifist constitution now that he had won the 4th term n with a super majority! That will rattle China. Fat Kim of North Korea may then b the sabre that China will use to threaten Japan with nuclear war!! The whole East Asia will b destabilized n negative impact on trade n commerce will be huge, except maybe arms dealers businesses!!

Whatever Sgp want the Americans n the Chinese to do, it is really for them to decide n they can ignore whatever we say!!

It will b interesting to see what moves Putin will make if Abe succeed in changing the pacifist constitutions of Japan!!
