The move is part of a broader reorganisation of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) to tackle the threat of terrorism, and enable national servicemen to be deployed jointly with the Home Team in security operations.
here will be a dedicated training institution called the Island Defence Training Institute (IDTI) located in Clementi Camp, where soldiers will learn about search and arrest procedures, and how to use retractable truncheons. The curriculum will be adapted from the SAF’s existing urban operations.
The training will enable national servicemen to be deployed jointly with the Home Team in security operations."
Yes this is the right move given the lean SPF! The armed forces need to be involved for sure.
At least something different fr the tiresome LEEs' tragic saga. One that will be up on air n in full focus again when PM Lee's one-sided parliamentary show is play out comes 3 July 2017, Monday!!
