Daily Lessons from Life 14 June 2017 - Family spat?

"PM Lee denies claims made by siblings

“Ho Ching and I deny these allegations, especially the absurd claim that I have political ambitions for my son,” Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong says, in response to the public statement issued by Mr Lee Hsien Yang and Dr Lee Wei Ling.

The siblings of PM Lee had earlier on Wednesday issued a public statement saying they have “lost confidence” in their brother and that they “do not trust him”. They also said, based on their interactions, that PM Lee and his wife “harbour political ambitions for their son, Li Hongyi”.

The statement by Dr Lee and Mr Lee, titled “What has happened to Lee Kuan Yew’s values?” was published on their Facebook pages.

“While siblings may have differences, I believe that any such differences should stay in the family.

Since my father’s passing in March 2015, as the eldest son I have tried my best to resolve the issues among us within the family, out of respect for our parents,” PM Lee said."

There were tensions in the air a few times the 3 of them "crossed swords". The public spat abt how to handle the old home late x-MM/SM/PM Lee used to occupy for the longest time - to demolish as willed or to preserve n make it into a commemorative site showcasing his legacy?

One side takes it a step further that preserving Mr Lee's legacy is good for the PM's political fortune while the other side simply feel that the people may want to remember his forever@

Who is right here? I dont know n can't be part of it as it is intimately personal.

Maybe it can be put to a national referendums? Like Brexit?

Or maybe the will be respected as that is the man's last wish?

Whatever. It is out in the open. Not nice but it happened.

Hopefully PM Lee will be able to sort it out.

As for wanting a 3rd generation Lee to ne in politics? Why not if they r qualified like Lee Yock Suan's (?) son? or someone else relatives? Bring them on n let the voters decide.

One troubling fact, if true, is that tje younger brother of PM find Sgp unfit for him. A bit different.
