The Council of Churches (CoC) expressed concerned about the legalisation of online betting for 2 of Singapore entities.
While it has expressed its concerns when the integrated resorts, with gaming (casinos) at a controlled small areas (but main profit driver), was mooted n public consultation sought by the government, it went ahead. So I am not sure this expression of concerns and rejection or puzzlement at the reasons provided by the authorities to allow online betting will do nothing to stop it from becoming g a reality.
Maybe the government is desperate to get more revenue or from any other sources to fund the increasing social safety net costs since the overall economy is not doing well?!
It will just matter of fact that some collateral damages will happen. Some families will suffer breakout, heartaches, hurts, etc. if one or more of their members become addicted to online betting as it was so easy to do, despite all the stringent safeguard the authorities required the operators to put up.
In this city state everyone has to try to understand that immoral activities that bring money and not impacting negatively the majority, the government will go for it. Take the bullet for the long-term good 9f the nation. Much obliged and thank you for being a patriot!@
CoC has made its point. We heard it. Let's agree to disagree n let online betting has its day in the sun!@
