1. KPMG Report on AHTC governance, internal control, etc. revealed many issues n deficiencies.
Minister Shanmugam stated eloquently all that are wrong with the picture painted by the KPMG Report. At the same time insinuating the WP MPs hv committed frauds is not necessary unless charges r pressed against them specially.
Let the laws take its course as in Sgp, no voters will condone corrupt MPs no matter which political parties they come from.
Low competence to manage the financial n governance r clear for all to see. The dismay situation described by the external 3rd party's report r evidence n proof.
As for committing frauds deliberately will need proof. Making this a political issue is not helpful.
The voters will know competence r needed to run TC well financially n not just cleanliness of the estate. R their MPs corrupt? That needs proof.
2. Asean's split on joint statement on China re: The South Sea ruling
Hardly surprising as Lao n Cambodia hv no desire to upset China who r bankrolling development in their countries big time. This age old "divide n control" tactic has been used many times in the past with success n still do in this case.
"Might is right" prevails in this case. Despair not as each of the Asean or some of them can issue their statement on this issue. Asean, like EU, is good in the good times but not so in the bad times as it lacks the financial or the military power to keep its members together.
Slight disagreement should just be ignored n carry on as if Asean is still a happy cohesive entity. Otherwise, the alternative is the dissolution of Asean! Definitely not a price to pay for.
Peace in South China Sea. Peace to Asean!! And China!!
