Daily Lessons from Life 18 May 2016 - Can't Ridicule Government! Subsidies for Hiring Oldies!

1. "Malaysians who discredit or ridicule government can be barred from travelling overseas for 3 years - The Star/Asia News Network 18 May 2016"

Hmm. A very disturbing news even though it is our neighbour that will supposedly has this requirement. It seems that it has been in practice for quite a while and several Malaysians who 'ridicule' the government were barred from leaving the country!

It seems that 'to travel outside the country is a privilege and not a right' as citizen.

Interesting to say the least. Best to leave it to the Malaysians to sort it out as an internal affairs.

2. "Guidelines on re-employment of older workers revised; more funding available for firms -

SINGAPORE: More funding will be given to employers to make workplaces and jobs more friendly to older workers. A total of S$66 million will be made available to firms over the next three years under WorkPro schemes such as the WorkPro Age Management Grant and Job Redesign Grant, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) and Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) announced on Wednesday (May 18).

The schemes are jointly developed by MOM and WDA in consultation with the Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF) and the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC)."

Continue working if you enjoy or if you need the money to live. However, if you don't enjoy working but need to, please adjust your mind-set and bite the bullet and continue working. IF you make 'low wage', then your pay should not be reduced on re-employment when your job nature and expectations have not been reduced.

Of course, we need to know 'why there are low-waged jobs' and how can we eliminate them and move the existing workers to the next level where 'higher wages can be paid' and sustainable!

Otherwise, the state just has to 'take care' of these elderlies who have no chance in hell to upgrade and survive without financial assistance from the government's public taxpayers and other state revenue generating avenues.

With our trillions of reserves built from our past successes, we just have to manage the spending! When the day come where our national coffer has NO MORE money, we will have another brainstorming to seek the breakthrough.
