In a Facebook Live video on Saturday (Apr 30), Dr Tambyah had said: "We believe you can criticise what a person says or what a person does, but don't attack the person ... It's not right to question his character ... Attacking his character is uncalled for. A person is not defined by his or her actions or words."
In a Facebook post on Sunday, Mr Heng responded by saying: "I read with dismay Prof Paul Tambyah's statement yesterday claiming that character doesn't matter.”"
Indeed, either Prof Tambyah has been misquoted or he has just shown even if you have a 'Professor' title, you can still be totally inadequate in area where your 'Professor' title has NO expertise in!
How can a person NOT be defined by his or her actions or words? Of course, he can be defined as an unique individual with his or her own independent mind, if he or she is not mentally imbalance. BUT to say that he or she is NOT defined by his or her words or actions, actually actions are more important for me, is opening oneself to be attacked and savaged! I think that his what the PAP stalwarts are lining up to do!
SDP's responses should focus on: what has Dr Chee been doing in GE2015 and since. He does not has to 'regret' what he had done in the past if he insisted he has done no wrong. The voters will have to do a bit of research on that. More importantly, how are the voters PERCEIVING him TODAY? Is he going to be a reasoned voice in parliament? is he going to get the bread-and-butter issue of running a Town Council done well? does in matter if one more opposition MP in the parliament besides those from WP? That would help. But definitely not by saying that: a person is NOT defined by his or he words or actions!
2. Leicester City vs. Man United tonight in UK - Against ALL ODDs to win the EPL tonight?
For non-football fans, forgive me for writing about this match.
I like, and used to love, EPL actions until Starbub and SingTel bid ridiculously high prices to have the broadcast right in Singapore that I gave up the Sports Cable subscription. It was dumb to have 2 mainly government linked invested companies bidding against each other to satisfy the greedy EPL, and also corrupted FIFA, who asked the consumers to pay for their stupid decision!
The so-called top 6-8 teams in EPL are all bankrolled by some filthy rich Middle Eastern oil sheiks or USA or Russian billionaires whose hobbies include owning sports clubs in the hundred of millions. I almost expected one of them to dominate the EPL, FA Cup and League Cup, the 3 main competitions in UK. So, it is totally heavenly to see a club that was fighting against relegation from EPL last season to be on the brink of winning the EPL this season! This team will win for its faithful betters a 5000 to 1 odd bet IF they win tonight, hopefully, or their closest rival, Spurs lost tomorrow at Chelski. Or they get another 3 points from the last 2 matches!
So, unless something terribly cruel happened, Leicester City will be the EPL Winners! How sweet for the neutral. How sweet for those who believe that every now and then the rich arrogant folks who dismissed everyone else as 'below them' and shows disrespect get their noses BLOODIED!
I am one of these neutrals. Money cannot be allowed to buy successes always though they do most of the time. Many neutrals live for moment like this one. Leicester City, winners of EPL 2015-16!! Am I right?
