1. Another Russian Plane down
Not due to terrorism but due to bad weather supposedly. I don't know Russia very well so whatever I have to write here is probably to be ignored though the frequency of airplane crashes associated with Russia and Russians seemed high!
Rest in peace to the dead and condolences to the surviving families and friends.
2. Paris attack mastermind captured alive in Brussels
Finally one that is still alive at point of capture. Will this 'mastermind' be able to shed more lights on how the terrorist attacks were carried out so that enough can be learned to pre-empt the next terrorist strike? Hopefully so.
May the security forces in Europe have more successes with pre-empting terrorists' attacks.
3. The chance of a terrorist attack in Singapore!
The alarm has been sounded many times since the last Paris terrorist attack and closer to home the Indonesia and Thailand bombing and gun fight!
The constant high rating for how likely is a terrorist attack going to happen in Singapore is definitely an uncomfortable thought in Singaporeans' minds. So, it is better to expect the 'inevitable' or should the mind-set by: 'it won't happen here as we are all very vigilant and the country is very small and fire arms and powerful weapons are not readily available'? Personally I refuse to live in fear that the unlikely event will occur. I rather be prepared for that knowing what to do and how to react. In this way, when it does happen, there is no panic. With the proper responses after the so-called 'inevitable', maybe we can catch the perpetrators, whoever they may be and wherever they may be from!
Of course, the good habit of mutually respecting each other's race/religion/language/etc. must continue. It will be doubly sad IF the terrorist attack happened and the perpetrators are from within Singapore!
May that day NEVER comes.
