Daily Lessons from Life 15-16 October 2015 - Same Problems Everywhere?

In Jeju Island doing our annual biking tour with some same old and new long time friends. Our 3rd tours since 2013.

We have cyclists from 7 cities among the 8 of us. Seoul, Manila, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Taipei and Singapore.

Strangely we got talking about the 'limited graduate employment opportunities' in these cities and found a common thread - more university/college graduates are being produced but less and less so-called graduate-grade or graduate-pay jobs are being created! In all these 7 big Asian cities!

What is going on?

Maybe the expectations of the new graduates need to be adjusted?

Maybe there are simply just not enough new jobs being created in the new economy vs. the baby boomers like us when we have 'graduate-grade and -pay' jobs waiting for us the moments we graduated?

I like one of the best perspective taken by one of our friends: that the world has more and more 'better educated human beings' though not necessarily getting 'matching graduate jobs and pay' is STILL better than 'having MORE non-educated next generation of youngsters'!

The challenge then become: how to keep the 'educated' youth satisfied IF they don't get 'matching jobs'?

Do I have an answer? NO! Not yet. Maybe thinking about it deeply in my sleep may turn up something tomorrow morning?

Goodnight!
