1. "Toll soars to 90 after IS bomb guts Iraq town - AFP 18 July 2015
Rescuers in the Iraqi town of Khan Bani Saad were searching collapsed buildings for bodies Saturday after a car bomb ripped through a busy market, killing at least 90 people.
The suicide attack by the Islamic State group was one of the deadliest since it took over swathes of Iraq last year and came as the country marked Eid al-Fitr, the feast that ends the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.
Residents recounted scenes of horror in the aftermath of Friday's attack, in which officials said at least 15 children died."
Honestly, this is shocking news. IS is bent on offending anyone, including its fellow Muslims, whom many are NOT as radical and as ruthless and brutal as them. Killing fellow Muslims, even if they are against the murderous method of IS, is simply not winning the IS any supports.
PEACE to the Islamic world. Peace to the world!
2."Cambodian property tycoon charged over TV star assault
Cambodia has charged and detained a wanted property tycoon over the assault of a popular TV actress after a video of the vicious attack sparked widespread anger and calls from the premier to give himself up.
CCTV footage of the assault on Ek Socheata, better known by her stage name SaSa, in a restaurant has fuelled public outrage in a country where the rich are often seen to be beyond the reach of the judicial system."
Is there a COMMON evil in RICH people's psychological makeup that they are ABOVE LAWS? LOL!!
Lessons for me are:
1. I guessed in a developing society, the strong takes the weak for granted and have them for lunch regularly since there are NO resistance and the laws are toothless or the law enforcers are just greedy to have some money so that they can buy some material pleasures?;
2. is there evil in rich people? somehow? is this INEVITABLE and that it is NATURE?? I hope NOT! Would a growing kid become a vicious sex offender just because he or she has loads of money? Can a 'successful man' of this criminal character BE a 'violent abuser' of woman BY NATURE? OR his ego was badly hurt when his money, maybe, could not win the lady's hands?;
3. fast forward to Singapore. It is quite clear that in our history we can find SUCH characters among our 'rich and powerful'. YET, over time these folks are REIGNED in with STRICT enforcement of the laws. In Singapore, the USA's pledge of: 'And justice for all' apply to us too. Even in ancient China, when the sages say: 'When the Emperor commit an offence, he will be put on trial just like an ordinary citizen!'.
This is the WAY I like it. I could not imagine any other way!
Majulah Singapura!
