Daily Lessons from Life 25 April 2015 - Bruce Jenner is a Woman! And more earthquakes? And ...

1. "'I'm a woman': US Olympic hero Jenner comes out as transgender - AFP  Apr 25, 2015"

For a guy growing up in awe of Bruce Jenner the Olympic and World Decathlon MAN champion, this is a bit of a difficult piece of news to digest though it has been long time coming!

All the best to him now that he formally declared himself to be a 'Her'. So, all to best to 'her'!

If I were as young as then, I might have a problem accepting a sporting man hero becoming a woman. I guessed being older and having witnessed many of the weirdest things that happened to human being over the last 3-4 decades prepared me to be MORE OPEN MINDED. Or some die hard 'men' will say: muddled headed and confused!

Well, do anyone know better then Ms Jenner that she wants to be she? If not, just accept it as long as your life if not going to be impacted as much as her life!

2. "Hundreds feared dead in Nepal after massive quake - AFP  Apr 25, 2015" and "Chile volcano belches more smoke after twin eruptions - AFP  Apr 25, 2015"

Death tolls had been revised to at least 785 after the earthquake in Kathmandu while Chile's Calbuco volcano roaring unexpectedly back to life a few days ago is seen belching more smoke again!

Last year or 2 years back when a series of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions around many places around the 'Ring of Fire' earthquake belt, I was wondering and worrying for the people who live at those places. What if the inevitable eruptions continued non-stop and forced them to leave their homes forever? At least some of them, like those in Chile, have been put on notice and get a chance to evacuate compared to those caught totally cold like in Kathmandu's earthquake!

The Nepal quake supposedly triggered an avalanche that killed some unsuspecting mountaineers from all over the world looking forward to scale the world's highest peak at the starting of the climbing season. I guessed many did not what hit them and how they got killed! It is tragic. YET, it is part of the cycle of life!

Do I have a solution for what if many more people have to abandon their COUNTRIES to move to a place that is NOT on the 'Ring of Fire'? Does the world has this vision and the big heart to accommodate such eventuality given the BIG DEBATE I just brought up in my last night blog - what should the European governments do with the 'wave after wave of soon-to-be-drown at seas' refugees from Africa and Middle East?

Damn! I don't have a solution!!

3. "Rescuers' only thought was to save toddler - The Straits Times  Apr 25, 2015

WHEN construction workers Subramanian Shanmuganathan and Ponnan Muthukumar saw a toddler dangling out of a second floor flat on Thursday, their first thought was to save her.

The two-year-old girl was hanging outside the ledge of her flat's service yard, with her head stuck between a laundry pole and the ledge. The workers climbed up. Mr Shanmuganathan, 35, stood on the parapet and held onto the girl's body, while Mr Muthukumar, 24, who was in the area next to the service yard, held her head. They eventually freed two-year-old Naurah Fitria Auni, who had been left alone in the three-room flat in Jurong East Street 32 for about 20 minutes.

The rescue was captured on video by private tutor David Cheo, 36. The video was uploaded on popular blog Alvinology.com and was viewed more than 500,000 times as of last night.

Yesterday, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) presented the duo from Tamil Nadu with the Public Spiritedness Award at the SCDF headquarters in Bukit Batok."

These 2 FWs had maximum exposure for this kind act. Some pointed out how FWs can contribute and are good people that deserve more respects and generosity from Singaporeans. For me, it is obvious that there are good FWs like there are good Locals. Yet, there are bad and ugly FWs and Locals too. Generalization is NEVER a good strategy whenever you are dealing with a particular person - be it FW or Local. Or for that matter anyone else.

When you deal with a specific person, ignore the stereo-typing and FOCUS on getting to KNOW that particular person as much as possible for you to be able to work, live, co-exist and collaborate with him to be successful and productive! This is especially so in a work environment.

So, let's know get carried away with the kind act of these 2 FWs. Let's acknowledge it as it should be. It is unhelpful to said the Locals should just appreciate and recognise FWs.

For me, we do and should, for those good FWs. For others, it will be on their own merits or otherwise!

Peace to the world for all mankind!
