AirAsia flight QZ8501 crash, Day 11 - The dive team spotted the tail of the plane that crashed. This is significant as it contains the Black Box recorder. Hopefully the mystery can be resolved soon. In the meantime, 8 more identified bodies were handed over to their families and relatives to have some closure at the personal level.
Extra: Prominent criminal lawyer Subhas Anandan has passed away. Rest in peace as I had commented that he is one of a kind.
"At least 10 dead in shooting at French satirical weekly - AFP Jan 07, 2015
PARIS - At least 10 people were killed when gunmen armed with Kalashnikovs and a rocket-launcher opened fire in the offices of French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo on Wednesday, Paris prosecutors said.
"At this stage" ten people are dead, said the prosecutor's office, without detailing how many had been injured. Deputy Mayor of Paris Bruno Julliard earlier said "six people are seriously injured", including a policeman.
A source close to the investigation said two men "armed with a Kalashnikov and a rocket-launcher" stormed the building in central Paris and "fire was exchanged with security forces." The source said gunmen had hijacked a car and knocked over a pedestrian as he sped away.
The satirical magazine gained notoriety in February 2006 when it reprinted cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed that had originally appeared in Danish daily Jyllands-Posten, causing fury across the Muslim world.
Its offices were fire-bombed in November 2011 when it published a cartoon of Mohammed and under the title "Charia Hebdo". Despite being taken to court under anti-racism laws, the magazine continued to publish controversial cartoons of the Muslim prophet.
In September 2012 Charlie Hebdo published cartoons of a naked Mohammed as violent protests were taking place in several countries over a low-budget film, titled "Innocence of Muslims", which was made in the United States and insulted the prophet.
French schools, consulates and cultural centres in 20 Muslim countries were briefly closed along with embassies for fear of retaliatory attacks. Editor Stephane Charbonnier has received death threats and lives under police protection."
Let's count this as the 1st week of 2015 and see if we get once a week attack by the so-called religious terrorists.
Lessons for me are:
1. some people are dead serious about their religion! To the point of killing other human beings just to stop them from making fun of it. There is no humour in religion for these murderers hiding under the cover of religion! EVERYONE must NOT allow this to happen. Call them what they are: murderers with machine guns and a rocket launcher! A rocket launcher!! Are in making a movie?;
2. some people are very serious about their jobs as journalists. Surprised that the Editor of this magazine lives under police protection in France, a relatively safe country! Some of the editor's colleagues died today in the terrorist attack. Would they ever, for a moment, imagined that they would be kill at their workplace by machine guns and rocket bombs!! What the heck is going on here!! Has the murderers gone mad?;
3. the Danish magazine with similar characteristics had upped their security around their offices. Good for them. In this day and age, the possibility of a copy-cat act is to be taken seriously! When will this madness goes away? I hope it will quickly. I wish it will just go away. Having said that, I know when 'emotion is aroused' such irrational murderous act CAN happen anytime! Hopefully, people will be more alert and be able to see the tell tale signs of such an event, which will be very very difficult as it could have struck anyone!!
Rest in peace to the dead and may the survivors live strong and be free from this traumatic and tragic incident.
