Daily Lessons from Life 27-28 December 2015 - AirAsia flight QZ8501: Indonesia ends search for the day for plane lost in bad weather

On 27 December 2014 I missed writing the blog as I was in a very happy mood celebrating my Big Uncle's, mum's younger and only brother, 80th birthday with his kids, the families and a lot of our close relatives. It was a joyous occasion and I had a glass too much of red wines and slept deeply upon hitting the bed!

This morning when I woke up, the grim and uncertain news that Air Asia QZ8501, travelling from Surabaya to Singapore on Sunday morning, lost contacts with the airport authorities in bad weather. It has 155 passengers and seven crew members on board. There were 155 Indonesians, one Singaporean, one Malaysian, one French, one British and three South Koreans.

I was still hopeful as NO definite find had been located but this latest updates of Indonesia ends search for the day for plane lost in bad weather is not good as every hour lost of locating them, assuming there are survivors, means one hour lost of possible saving lives.

How could life be so cruel! One night I was happy and joyful and the next morning I find potentially 162 lives LOST so suddenly. Just as they were going to relax and looking forward to meeting their loved ones, families, friends and colleagues or whoever are waiting at the Singapore airport to welcome them!

As a frequent traveller, I always tell myself, every time I learned of an air disaster, that it could have been me. Should I be afraid. Very afraid of flying. It is pointless to be worried. No sane person will want to end in such a tragedy purposefully. Every pilots and the crews will want to have a safe journey and deliver their passengers to their destinations. Every passenger definitely wants and expects the same.

I HOPE tomorrow will bring better news. That the weather will cooperate and that the plane, if indeed had fallen, will be located. And the survivors and the dead will be recovered as soon as possible.

And then, hopefully the cause(s) of the lost-contact or crash can be revealed so that those impacted can have some form of closure.

I sincerely hope it is not a man-made disaster. No terrorist involved. Especially those who hijacked 'religion' to commit murderous and inexcusable terrorist act.

With a lot of sadness I write. Condolences to the families and friends of the passengers and the crew.
