Daily Lessons from Life 01- 06 August 2013 - Catch Up ...
Well. 7/12 of 2013 just slipped past me. I was not even able to keep up with the daily blogging while in the 2nd part of my 4-day Taiwan bicycling trip! Lack of access to wifi is a convenient excuse though I KNOW that is NOT the key reason. I was just plain not diligent enough.
Anyway, time to catch up now that I AM BACK in Singapore.
01 August 2013 - 3rd day of the 4-day bicycling trip
The legs and wrists started to hurt a little bit. Sore and slightly painful with each exertion. The experienced leader shared with us that the 3rd day is the most trying. It was. We got to climb a few slopes with some stretches beyond me resulting in me having to push the bike along. It was painful. Mercifully, it rained. It helped to cool me down in the summer heat. I made it to the top. We made it to the top. From there, it was a 10km downhill glide. The focus is not on paddling but on braking enough to not over-speed! It was a breeze. Felt good. 10km of free 'fall'!!
02 August 2013 - last day of the 4-day bicycling trip
Supposed to be an easy ride along the Eastern Coast of Taiwan. Immediately we have to climb a slope as we started off. The sky was cloudy. By mid-day, the sun is out after some light to medium showers, all these helped. Got to put up my 'sleeves' and bandannas bands to protect my arms, face and neck from the scotching sun.
Personally I felt I perspired the MOST on this leg and also drunk the most isotonic drink. While it was supposed to be flat, it was not. Like the say, when there is down, there must be up.
By 2 p.m., it was all over. We returned the bikes. Posed for a triumphant photo and ready to go to the nearby hot spring resort to release and recover!
03 August 2013 - back to Taipei
Took the slow train from Taidong to Taipei, knowing that another 3-4 long time friends will be flying in from Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong to celebrate our safe and successful bicycling trip.
We had our usual indulgence. So much for testing and burning fat and building muscles! I am pretty sure we have PUT EVERYTHING, and MORE, back after tonight's feast!!
Oh well. What the heck. We will do the exercise again somewhere sometime somehow!
04 August 2013 - catch up with other long time friend for lunch
One of them is only leaving this afternoon. So, we had lunch and he craved for a 'famous' food in Taipei and we had it around 3 p.m. It was good. But then again, other may say: 'One man's meat is another man's poison'.
I managed to bring him to the Taipei bus terminal for the ride to the Taoyuan International Airport. That saved some money when we are all trying to travel cheap or 'value-for-money'!
Had 2 pieces of taro breads and 1.5 cans of sugared milk tea for dinner. Turned in and get ready to head home tomorrow.
05 August 2013 - one more lunch with another long time friend and off for home
Had lunch with Sheree, a long time friend, who had ventured on her own with a health supplement multi-level marketing (MLM) company. She found the supplements to work for her parents and herself. She is sold on the benefits. She is convinced it works. For me, I am not into supplement. At least not yet. I believe in proper dieting and regular exercises to get our bodies and minds in shape. When our bodies and minds are IN SHAPE, they are less likely to be sicked! Simple logic.
Anyway, the food is really very good. To my taste - at least. Will visit if I am in Taipei and around that area. For sure.
Then it was off to the airport for home. Home is always where the heart is. When the plane lands in Singapore. You simply have the 'HOME' feeling. Indescribable. Just a feeling!
06 August 2013 - back to the Singapore pace and patter of life
Go back to Singapore's pace. QUICKLY. So, I sent my youngest daughter to the 'grown up' 'Fall Out Boys' punk band concert in the morning. Oh, just so they can be at the front row of the open air concert! LOL!!
Then off to visit mum. Have breakfast with her. Then off to visit another long time friend's mum's wake. She passed away after a long illness. It was a relief for her. Old enough. Loved.
Now that I have caught up with blogging. Somewhat. Let's get go with more in depth comments starting tomorrow!
