Daily lessons from Life13 - 20 July 2013 - cop suspected of murder and more
1. 13 July 2013 Cop suspected of double murder in Kovan
Was going to comment on this before climbing on board a plane to head to the Great Wall Country and did not get to complete it as the Great FIRE Wall of China works its punitive magic again!
Subsequent to the news reported on 13 July, things became clearer that it is a cop who went astrayed after being an officer that was commended on in his earlier police career.
May justice be done. The dead rest in peace. The families of everyone so touched be strong and live on.
2. USA 'dissident' or 'traitor' Snowden escaped to Hong Kong SAR, PRC and then Russia?
Interesting story though it did not surprised me a bit since someone must be 'listening' to someone else in another country for something in this electronic age. LOL!!
What President Putin (2nd time President by the way) said was: 'The USA has been very unfair since it took in a lot of 'dissidents' that spoke against or disagreed with their own government's way of doing things. So why are they trying to STOP other countries from taking in Mr Snowden!'. Sounds logical. No?
Well, let me leaves twisted logic of the politicians aside. I will never understand them.
3. When I landed in Beijing on that Sunday, what greeted me was, yes, you guessed it: 'haze'. The one what created a lot of noises in Singapore which expats, Singaporean ones too, said: 'It is just par for Beijing. Everyday we have this. And WORST!'
Well, just because it is 'par' or 'normal' when we KNOW it is harmful does not really make it 'RIGHT'! Does it?
Maybe someone will finally do something about it since that 'someone' with special power is also breathing in the polluted air besides drinking the poisoned underground water.
Or maybe they have their usual bottled water, and now, the secretly made 'bottled air' that NORMAL citizens may not get?
4. Watched 'On the Red Dot' documentary on CNA tonight and found that SOME Singaporeans do not WAIT for the government, the power-that-be, the 'special someone' to take action to help the needy to fight the recent haze challenges. It was heartening to see YOUNG PEOPLE taking the initiative to start, organize and mobilize ordinary people to buy/donate/distribute and educate the young and old and vulnerable group of Singaporeans on how to use the mask to prevent any potential complication from the haze.
A few hundred is better than NO ONE taking actions on their own.
Keep moving. Keep walking. Keep doing!!
5. A 'suicide bomber' at Beijing International Airport Terminal 3 Arrival Hall this afternoon
I was JUST at the same T3 except at the Departure Hall last night. It seems that it was triggered by a desperate handicapped person who felt he had being wronged without recourse. His method and choice of trying to resolve the issue is obviously not right from normal people's perspective, it happened. That is the scariest part really.
You can NEVER be too careful when you are traveling. You can only be as careful as you can be. And the rest leaves it to fate and whatever 'greater being or thing' you believed in. The security experts will be looking at how did the bomber escaped the 'security measure' to get the bomb inside and able to detonate it, etc.
That I will leave it to the 'experts'. Just be glad that it happened when I was there. And it happened in a different location of the same terminal even if I had been there.
Enjoy the Sunday and a new week ahead.
