Just learned early this morning via email that a friend of my friend was murdered while on a jog in KL. He was lamented how fickle life is and can be. The fact that his wife just left Chengdu, Sichuan, PRC before the Ya'an earthquake made him exclaimed to his religious God about how lucky it was.
I have my misgiving about people living on Earth and choosing to stay at known earthquake prone areas. Especially so when human ingenuity challenged Mother Earth's power by building earthquake-proof high, and super high rise, buildings.
Of course, for many they do not have a choice as they live there many years before it was known that the area is on the 'ring of fire' or earthquake zone. If that is the case, it is really a situation of: who move first? Mother Earth or the residents?
I know Tokyo has almost perfected the earthquake-proof building. At the same time, it simple shudder me to think about the long awaited 'the Big One' hitting Tokyo. It is almost a forgone conclusion that the Big One will bring any human structured down. Witnessed the devastating Kobe earthquake of almost a decade or more ago?
As for 'being murdered while out on a joke'. THIS is SICKENING!! No one deserves such a death. It is when I learned of such bad news and seriously think that: Life SUCKED!!
What is the motive? Just like the bloody Boston Marathon bombing where 3 innocent lives were lost. YOUNG lives cut short for no apparent reason. For the religious they can find solace in saying: It is God's will. For those who are religious BUT not deeply believing, maybe this reason is NOT GOOD ENOUGH! For those who cannot make sense of these and may be tied in knots. Maybe they will need counselling and even psychological therapeutic help.
This brings me to the many violence, for no apparent reason violence, crimes I watched on the USA TV program: The Criminal Minds. They killed for no apparent reasons except for their sick mind.
Will some people become sick because they have watched too many of such movies/tv series? Or they just stated being sicked?
I will never know.
Rest in peace to my friend's friend. Condolences to her family.
