Daily Lessons from Life 27 May - 03 June 2012 - A Week in Shanghai

Well, another week in PRC without access to blogger.

Was there to observe a 3.5 days program. A few observations of the going on in the TV programs:

1. as usual there are the investigative programs on: when a family lost their only kid suddenly through accident or acute illness. Or the family tragedy of couples splitting and fighting each other bitterly in court and seeking help in front of a live audience TV recording!!

The one of losing the only child story is really moving. Stunning to learn many families actually lost their only child. I guessed it should not be a surprise when we consider the absolute number of families with only 1 child due to the government's one-child policy!

The efforts to try to help the parents who lost their only kid are commendable. A very unique story and very courageous parents to want to have their lives laid bare in front of a live audience and millions more in front of the TV!!

2. the occasional black-out of CNN when it is reporting something deemed too sensitive for the authority! It has not changed much in this area.

3. the world outside China continues. Yes. They do. LOL!!

4. one of the best moments, whenever I travelled anyway, is to meet up with long time friends. I got the chance to do precisely that on the last night of this trip. It was really good!

Well, will be back there again quite soon. In the meantime, will keep writing the daily blog with the news headlines.
