A WEALTHY woman has been ordered by a Hong Kong court to pay a fine of 5,000 yuan (S$810) for assaulting a male passenger on the plane.

Ngyuen Hue Chang was returning to Hong Kong from Singapore on board a Cathay Pacific flight when the passenger in front of her reclined his chair and caused a cup of hot water to overturn, spilling on Ngyeun.

For getting wet, the woman shouted at man but he did not respond.

Infuriated, she then hit him on the head and tossed a plate of pasta over him.

Both passengers then got into a heated arguement and flight attendants had to intervene.

The woman was immediately arrested upon arrival, according to Lianhe Wanbao. The incident took place on Feb 22, 2012.

In her defense, the lawyer also said that 57-year-old retiree had been emotionally affected after visiting her friend in Singapore who had been paralysed by stroke.

The judge said that it was a trivial matter, but given the context of the plane, such behaviour affects the safety of other passengers. As a result, there was a need to fine Ngyuen to serve as a warning.

Ngyuen, who apparently owns a $10 million yuan mansion, was also ordered to compensate the victim 1,000 yuan.

According to the Chinese evening daily, the woman is remorseful and has apologised to the victim"

I decided to pick on something trivial and harmless to comment on.

Lessons for me are:

1. when you are emotionally affected, you can act irrationally;

2. things can go wrong when you are on plane! One of the things that will get you into troubles and pains is crossing your legs in your seat unless you are in business or 1st class as someone will recline his/her seat and crash your legs! LOL!!;

3. since no great harm was inflicted, the Yuan 1000 pasta is cheap for this lady and the man who initially caused the incident gets properly compensated as long as his head does not hurt anymore from this trauma!!
