Daily Lessons from Life 06 June 2011 - Today was D-Day in 1944!

I was looking at the major news websites in Singapore and could not find a single mention that today in 1944 i.e. 6ht of June 1944, the D-Day was launched by the Allied to recapture Europe and put the Nazi Germany to bed!

I guessed it was to long ago and too far away for Asians to be interested. Even for an vibrant Global City like Singapore. :-(

Anyway, lessons for me are:

1. in war, there is really no winner. All the victors did was to put the aggressors back in their place. For anyone who lost a loved one, a precious limb or whatever, the loss was permanent. No victory can bring the dead back though with advance in medical equipment, one can be fitting with robotic limbs!;

2. still the aggressors must pay for their aggression and misplaced ideologies or what not that convinced them that whatever they did were the right things to do then. Even if the aggressors claimed that they took the resources of their neighbours for the preservation of their own kinds, that reason is NOT good enough. Of course, I am assuming no good neigbours will deny help to another in distress. It that not the naturally thing to do?;

3. whatever that is happenig in the Middle East between Israel and the Arabs, the Allied in some hotspots in the Middle East and Pakistan makes no senses for the local people when the so-called Allied came to the local people's rescues. It is their country and it is their lives. They have to decide what kind of political system and what kind of authority should govern them. If there is great injustice and oppression, the local people will eventually revolt and change the regime. History has shown the even the most powerful dictators failed eventually when the people became totally disillusion, gone hungry and unhappy! They will pay with the lives so that some lives and those of their children's children have a life!!

I salute all who had given their lives to repel Nazi German and brought peace to Europe and effectively ended WWII. May we never have to fight WWIII!!
