As MM Lee put it: "You're gonna cross swords with me, then you must be willing to get stabbed." He also said: Singapore is my concern till the end of my life".

A quick one on this great man. Anyone with a fair mind will have to acknowledge that he has DONE a lot for the good of Singapore. This is especially true in the 1st 30 over years. Economically it is a miracle no doubt.

Lessons for me are:

1. it is his prerogative to be concerned about the future of Singapore. If that is what makes him ticked and energized, he must be allowed to do so;

2. at the same time, the younger generation, or anyone who does not agreed with his latest thinking or doing, they have the rights to express themselves too. Albeit in a respectfully way as he does deserved a lot of respect from us. Being one of the leading founding fathers of our young nation;

3. that said, I sincerely wish that he learned to let go as it is the younger generation that need to bring this nation and its people forward. Of course he no longer decide on the national policies. At the same time, he should be allowed to go quietly into retirement, which he won't as he had said he will die quickly once he retired, and enjoy the families and other things. The truth is he has no other real passion except his wife, who had passed away recently, and minding the nation!

May I wish him all the best health and that he gets to contribute to the future of Singapore by leaving a legacy of: It is your show and you should be able to chart the course WITHOUT my input.
