Daily Lessons from Life 25 December 2010 - Merry Christmas

This is Christmas Day. For some, a sacred religious occasion. For others, just another public holiday. Yet for some, a day to spend and consume like there is no tomorrow. And some more, a day to calculate if the GDP has gone up or down!

No matter what, it is just like many other things in a human being's life, to each its own!

Some headlines to emphasis how neutral nature can be to a day in our life:

1. Western Pacific earthquake caused tsunami - Sat, Dec 25, 2010 AFP

WELLINGTON - A major 7.6-magnitude earthquake in the western Pacific early Sunday caused a tsunami, the US Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said, following an alert warning earlier.

"Sea level readings confirm that a tsunami was generated," it said in a supplement to its original warning, which covered Vanuatu, New Caledonia and Fiji.

"This tsunami may have been destructive along coastlines of the region near the earthquake epicentre. Authorities in the region should take appropriate action in response to this possibility." Notes: I could still vividly remembered the devastation wrought by that deadly tsunami a day after Christmas created by the earthquake off Aceh of Indonesia a few years ago!"

2. Sat, Dec 25, 2010 The Daily Chilli - 'Santarina GROs' nabbed in Penang raid

Forty-seven guest relation officers (GROs) in skimpy Santarina outfits were nabbed by the Immigration Department during a raid at an entertainment outlet in Tanjung Tokong, in George Town, Penang, on Christmas Eve.

3. yet more like: thousands stranded at Heathrow Airport, Paris and Belgian due to the inclement snow storms; 1st female suicide bomber in Pakistan killing more than 40 people; etc"

So, be thankful wherever we are where there are peace and quiet, or bustling commercial activities, or a personal religious services attended.

This is Christmas, may the blessing sent by the Pope be spread all around the world regardless of if one is a Catholic or not!

Yours humbly
LU Keehong
