BEIJING - More than half of the 20 richest self-made women in the world are Chinese, with their average fortune beating that of US talk show host Oprah Winfrey and author JK Rowling, a list showed Tuesday.

The three richest women on the planet are Chinese, led by paper-recycling queen Zhang Yin who has a personal fortune of US$5.6 billion (S$7.3 billion), according to the Shanghai-based Hurun Report, which compiles data on wealthy individuals.

Of the 20 richest self-made female billionaires, 11 are Chinese with an average wealth of US$2.6 billion - compared with Winfrey who ranked ninth on the list with US$2.3 billion, the report said"

This is a remarkable statistic and achievement by the women folk in PRC. Self-made billionaire no less!

Lessons for me are:

1. these Chinese ladies are pure business and nothing to do with media craze! It it even more remarkable!;

2. we need to learn about their ways in order to decide if they will work for us or not!;

3. the assertion by the author of this rich list that one of the reasons is the one-child policy and the fact that women are traditionally allowed to pursue their career is a bit skewed in my opinion. To be a business person you got to be really enthusiastic about making lots of money. Once you have the passion, you will pursue it like an obsessed being. Hopefully, a few breaks here and there and with your overall objective being a relatively good intention one, you will make it.
