"The volunteer medics worked for the Christian aid group International Assistance Mission (IAM) but US officials and the family of the British doctor, Karen Woo, denied Taliban claims that they were proselytisers and spies.

'The Taliban has proudly claimed responsibility for this despicable act of wanton violence,' US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said.

'We are heartbroken by the loss of these heroic, generous people,' she said.

'We also condemn the Taliban's transparent attempt to justify the unjustifiable by making false accusations about their activities in Afghanistan.'"

Why do I pick this news headline to comment on? Simple. I have friends who have friends in Afghanistan working in the medical area! This news on killing of volunteer medics working for a Christan aid group is simply distressing as they are NOT military guys and gals! In a war, I can appreciate the need to kill each other from the military as they are: enemies. Right?

Lessons for me are:

1. if you want to work in a danger zone, go with your eyes wide open. I think many of they have their thoughts on the worst nightmare coming true when they signed on;

2. religious killing has no rationality as religion is about emotion. Could they had been killed just because the are Christians? The ultimate price to pay. Then again, it could have been the other way round in another era another place!;

3. will condemning the murderers dent their will to continue to kill? Not a chance as these are the people who had gone so deep into the religion that they cannot see anything other than what they had been brainwashed. That killing any opponents to them is the only right thing to do! The only honourable and glorifying thing to do! Period. Hopefully these are the minority and they need to be wiped out! No if or but about it.

May the deads rest in peace and the living go on with life as strongly as they could possible be.
