Daily Lessons from Life 23 July 2010 - Lindsay Lohan Jailed?

"AsiaOne Multimedia: Lindsay Lohan begins jail term, sentenced shrinks to 14 days

BEVERLY HILLS, California - Lindsay Lohan began her 90-day jail term Tuesday but the troubled Hollywood starlet's sentence was quickly slashed to 14 days, police said.

An 'extremely cooperative' Lohan was booked into Lynwood correctional facility shortly after 10:00 am (1700 GMT) Tuesday, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore told reporters.

But no sooner had she donned jail garb and been put behind bars in a nine-square-meter (98-square-foot) cell than Whitmore said the actress's sentence would be reduced to just 14 days."

I don't really know who Lindsay Lohan is though I was told and read that she is quite a big star in media crazy USA. She is described as a starlet so I guessed she must be quite young, relatively anyway. Just another starlet to add spice and variety to the world we lived in?

Lessons for me are:

1. I have never been famous, not especially suddenly or at all! LOL!! So I probably cannot ever comprehend what Ms Lohan must have gone through with the media crowding and peeking into her every single move. I don't know her family background and how she is brought up too and if her parents and family know how to deal with such star attention too. So, fame when is overwhelming can unbalance a person's perspective of life and his or her behaviors;

2. even if I know about the pleasure and pressure of being famous, and even if I read up on ALL the 'right things to protect yourself from being consumed by the fame and fortune', will I be able to balance my life? Probably not if I am not ready mentally! Probably not if I am the only one trying to fight it! When you are famous and rich, there will be those who hang on and live on your coattail. These will be bad for you. You need to surround yourself with people of the right sense of perspective. People who are unafraid to tell you the truth, no matter how ugly it may be. You will chase them away if you are not ready. Hopefully, some honest feedback can trigger you to reflect earnestly. Maybe!;

3. to be famous and rich is not necessarily a good thing. Isn't it? Ms Lohan is just one example. There are many more. Ultimately it is still down to the person's own characters building. It starts from young, or younger for the starlets! It required discipline. Something not like by creative people, it seems. Maybe it is just vocational hazard!

May Ms Lohan overcome her challenges in life. In her young life, she already had achieved so much and paid so much. Will she live past 40? It is in her hands!
