No news headline to comment on but just on the sad elimination of my team for the 2010 World Cup, Brazil, by Holland tonight!
Lessons for me are:
1. football is a game of chance. How strong and how high you are ranked in the world does not really matter when the game starts! Many variables can contribute to one team winning while the other lost. Nothing can be taken for granted!;
2. talented footballers, and hence, people, who cannot stay calm under crisis, I guessed, if not really true champions. One of the Brazilian players, Fellipe Melo, who was the hero that supplied the beat-the-off-side-trap pass resulting in the 1st goal by Robinho on the 10th minute became the villain when he scored an own goal, albeit the world class goalkeeper, Julio Cesar, made a horrendous mistake; and Melo committed a fault on Robben of Holland, and was sent off at the 70th minute! This left his teammates with an even harder job to chase for the equalizer! It is classical case of emotion losing control under pressure! We have to guard against such occurrence in our daily and work life to be a good leader!;
3. while it is sad to see my favourite team left the World Cup tournament, I have to remind myself that it is just a game, what it may be! I saw the unashamed tears of the Brazilians' fans in the stadium, and many more in Brazil, at the end, we all have to remind ourselves this is just a game, no matter what. We will go on with our life struggles. The Brazilian team will do the same. So do their fans. It must not be life or death!
May Argentina come through tomorrow against Germany!
