Daily Lessons from Life 18 January 2010

"British press trumpets 'Prince Charming' trip Down Under - Mon, Jan 18, 2010 AFP

LONDON, ENGLAND (AFP) - Britain's press Monday praised Prince William's performance at the start of a trip to New Zealand and Australia, dubbing him 'Prince Charming' - but highlighting a painful incident with a rugby ball.

Pictures of the 27-year-old royal, the second-in-line to Britain's throne, featured widely in papers here after the start of his first official trip overseas on behalf of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II."

I always find it amusing that some people in the world still believed that they need to have a King or Queen; and even pay them some allowances to live the life of a Royalty. This, when some babies born in some part of the world becoming instantly another infant fatality statistic!

Lessons for me are:

1. you get the type of leader tolerate. If you believed that you must bow to a Royalty just because he or she was born into a Royal family, fine. In this day and age, you have a choice to pick your leader. It need not be by birth!;

2. you may have the birthright of a Royalty. At the same time, it does not mean that you will command the respect of your fellow human beings, who are incidentally, more properly addressed as: your subject!! Leader earns the respect of the people they work with. In fact, I used the word: 'worked with' as these days, life is far more complicated than in the medieval time and many tasks cannot be accomplished without working with people. Sometimes, leadership changes in different stages of the journey towards accomplishment!;

3. the British people can decide if they want to continue to sponsor this Royal Family business. If they want to, fine. If not, I would advise the Prince to get some real expertise besides saying: 'I was a Prince!'.
