"Ahmadinejad reiterates Holocaust a 'myth' at Quds Day rally
His comments have sparked outrage around the world. -Fri, Sep 18, 2009 AFP
TEHRAN, IRAN - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the Holocaust was a 'myth' as he addressed the annual Quds Day rally in Tehran on Friday, reiterating comments that sparked outrage around the world.
'The very existence of this regime is an insult to the dignity of the people,' the hardliner said referring to arch-foe Israel.
'They (Western powers) launched the myth of the Holocaust. They lied, they put on a show and then they support the Jews.
'If as you claim the Holocaust is true, why can a study not be allowed'' the Iranian president said to chants of 'Death to Israel' from the crowd gathered for the annual display of solidarity with the Palestinians.
'The pretext for establishing the Zionist regime is a lie... a lie which relies on an unreliable claim, a mythical claim, and the occupation of Palestine has nothing to do with the Holocaust,' he added.
'This claim is corrupt and the pretext is corrupt.' "
It is very sad why this man continued to insist that Holocaust is a lie or a myth when those Germans who committed the crime admitted their guilt; and their descendants also apologized for the crime committed defied decency!
How could the people who listened to him continued to NOT tell him that he should be finding another reason to show that he is against Israel on something that don't make him looked stupid and offended the Iranian people who are educated and right thinking!
Lessons for me are:
1. facts cannot be denied. Opinions can be debated. If one side must insist that it is right, provide the evidence for all to see and then let others judged as those who hang on to their own view come hell or hail water will NOT be able to see the logic. Emotion has overtaken rationality!;
2. when the leaders uttered illogical and totally unsupportable statements, it is the onus of the followers to inform him that his facts are wrong! Of course, if the leader has the habit of killing the messengers of 'dissenting views', then no one will want to do that! This may well be the case here; or NOT!!;
3. there cannot be no confidence in this leader to be rational when he engaged in such illogical and irrational talks so very often. There is a real danger that he may just do something unthinkable as he pushes he 'own sense of right logic'! I guessed that's why he need to be watched closely and carefully. I am sure the right thinking Iranians will be watching him too!
May the debate shift to: how to live in peace with Israel in the Middle-East? Will it ever happened? If there is hope, someone got to keep trying...
