I have been working hard on next week workshop in Penang. So have not much time to read the news.
Hence, I shall just provide a free-form comments on lessons from life today.
It is about an article I read from a Chinese friend via email.
It mentioned that Chinese business people ONLY care about making money. How they make their money does not matter as long as they made their money! Hence, the scandals of the 'doctored milk powers', the 'slavery coal mines', etc...
It also accused the Chinese of be lazy, always looking for short cut, not respectful to the veterans and elders, etc as depicted (or rather, interpreted by the author) by the panda in the cartoon movie: Kung Fu Panda.
The article is an extract of a book by a renown Professor in China. He wrote a lot of books and more often than not take a 'dig at the ugly sides of the 5000-year old civilization that does not seemed to keep pace with the modern world and values of openness, respect, etc'.
I do not fully agreed with the author as I believed there are still a lot of Chinese who are in business organization that want to do the right things.
It will be a tremendous struggle as the majority of the people may not be grounded on ethics.
It is a choice everyone need to make. To stay true to our personal values or to succumb to the pressure of 'conforming to the corp order and norm IF that order and norm is totally wrong!'.
My belief is: there will always be work for us and there is no need to serve a master who has no conscience!
I am going to bed now as it is almost 2am now!
