Daily Lessons from Life 11 September 2009

Today is the 8th anniversary of the 911 WTC Twin Tower attack. Let this remind us of the terrorist attack that claimed more than 3k lives from all over the world that congregated at the WTC Twin Tower! It is senseless and it must be stop. Stop by themselves and not by the enforcement agencies as at best; they could only prevent. The root cause of hatred and distrust need to be worked on before there is any chance of the conflict be resolved!

TAIPEI - A Taiwan court Friday sentenced former president Chen Shui-bian to life in jail on corruption charges, while also handing a life term to his wife, a court official said.


Chen, the first former Taiwan leader to be put on trial, was convicted for embezzling state funds, money laundering and accepting bribes, the Taipei district court said in a statement.

Taiwan's former first lady, wheelchair-bound Wu Shu-chen, was also convicted to life in jail, the court said.

The verdict marks the culmination of a court drama that has gripped the island of 23 million people for months.


Chen, 58, has criticised the trial as a political vendetta and revenge for his years in power when he was pursuing independence from China.

He has said that his Beijing-friendly successor Ma Ying-jeou is behind the alleged witch-hunt,
but Ma has denied the charge."

A sad end, assuming this is the end!, of an illustraous career of a smart and intelligent man (he top his year of cohorts to be the candidate with the higest score) and his family!

Lessons for me are:

1. when you become rich and famous and powerful, there will be greater temptation s to lead you astray. So, constantly reminding yourself WHY you want to be a leader is important and to keep us honest! If you have avery good fundamental reason to be a leader, it is less likey that you will be swayed by someone's money or favour or etc;

2. when you become rich and famous and powerful, remind your family, relative and friends not to put you in an unfavourable situation when you may need to compromise;

3. to resist the overwhelming temptations, we can develop a habit by doing the followings:
- be aware of degration from Self-Confident --> Self-Arrogant/Egoistic!;
- to engage 'insultant' who will tell you the bad but true picture;
- to consciously demand quiet time with self on managing and leading;
- solicit like-minded and righteous companions; etc...

May X-President Chen and his wife stay healthy in the prison cells. May anyone who aspired to be a 7e Leader be aware of the pitfall and traps that throw leaders with the initiate run.
