Daily Lessons from Life 26 June 2009

Have a great dinner with Khun Thirwit, his wife and one of her friends, at his club tonight in Bangkok, Thailand.

The conversation is great and the food and wine excellent! I am very fortunate to be in Bangkok last night as the club has a special French seafood event with all ingredients flown in fresh from France!!

I am very thankful to Khun Thirawit for his generosity and warm hospitality extended to me.

Lessons for me are:

1. when you have friends that care and generously take care of you, you are very lucky. Be thankful and appreciate and definitely need to reciprocate the warmth and friendship always!;

2. when we travelled around the region and the world for work, we must not forget that while work is important, the sensitivity and need to develop a genuine friendship with the people that we meet and work with. It is not all about work. The people side is very important too!;

3. when you do meet people of like mind and perspective on life and work, take the trouble and make the efforts to keep the relationship going. Despite the rare chance of meeting face-to-face, there are some many ways to keep in touch with today's telecommunication and transportation technologies. An occasional email at regular interval helps!

Thank you to all the friends who take care of me whenever and wherever we meet. Hopefully I have also being able to extend the same warmth and generosity to them whenever and wherever we meet!
